★ Administrative-Led ARDs: Collaboration, Compliance & Communication
As administrative staff increasingly facilitate ARD meetings, it is essential that they understand their responsibilities, legal requirements, and effective communication practices to support meaningful participation and positive outcomes for students and families.

Participants will engage in guided discussions, scenario-based learning, and practical planning activities to strengthen their understanding of administrative-led ARDs and build confidence in leading effective meetings.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
  • Identify the roles and responsibilities of administrators serving as ARD facilitators.
  • Apply federal, state, and district compliance requirements during ARD meetings.
  • Demonstrate effective communication strategies that promote collaboration among ARD committee members and families.
  • Analyze common ARD scenarios to determine appropriate administrative actions and decision-making processes.
  • Develop plans to facilitate efficient, student-focused ARD meetings that support meaningful participation and legal compliance.

★ Compliance & Collaboration in MDR and Change of Placement
Navigating Manifestation Determination Reviews (MDRs) and Change of Placement decisions can be complex, requiring strong collaboration, accurate documentation, and a thorough understanding of legal expectations.
In this interactive session, participants will examine the requirements, procedures, and decision-making processes associated with MDRs and Changes of Placement. Through case studies, collaborative discussions, and guided practice, participants will analyze real-world scenarios, strengthen compliance practices, and develop strategies for effective collaboration among campus and district teams.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
  • Identify legal requirements and procedural safeguards related to Manifestation Determination Reviews and Changes of Placement.
  • Analyze disciplinary scenarios to determine when an MDR or Change of Placement is required.
  • Apply compliance guidelines to support accurate documentation and decision-making processes.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure student-centered and legally compliant outcomes.
  • Develop action steps to strengthen campus practices related to discipline, special education compliance, and communication with stakeholders.
